AKAI MIDIMIX

AKAI are proven manufacturers of Ableton Live controllers setting out there stall early on with the APC40 MKI so when they announced a new controller we got a little excited all over again.
The AKAI MIDIMIX seemed on paper to be a nicely laid out controller, 8 track paradigm like many others, small footprint etc.
Picking it up for the first time the similarities to the APC MINI were obvious, it was after all shoehorned into the exact same casing as it’s more Ableton Live focused sibling.
With a similar arrangement to the LaunchControl XL we understandably couldn’t see a gap in the marketplace that this little controller was going to fill, that was until the price was announced. Coming in at roughly half the cost of other controllers this was an awful lot of controller for little outlay.
It’s budget beating stance gave us an opportunity, shipped without a particularly strong Ableton Live Control Surface script we’ve weaved some magic on it and given the ability to control 24 parameters at a time along with PrEditor and LaunchSync compatibility.
