„Poly 61“ ist eine inspirierende Multi-Sample-Sammlung, die mit dem großartigen „Poly 61“ erstellt wurde, den Korg Mitte der 80er Jahre auf den Markt brachte. Ein rauer und auf charmante Weise Lo-Fi-artiger Analog-Synthesizer mit einem markanten Electro-Charakter.
Der 1983 erschienene Poly-61 war KORGs Nachfolger des Polysix. Diese beiden großartigen Geräte haben nur sehr wenig gemeinsam: Der Polysix verfügt über einen einzigen VCO und einen SSM2044-Filter, während der Poly 61 zwei DCOs (digital gesteuerte analoge Oszillatoren) und eine speziell entwickelte Version des LM13600-Filters nutzt, der auch im späteren Korg MS-20 zum Einsatz kam. Ein großer Pluspunkt des Poly-61 ist der zweite Oszillator, der nicht nur verstimmt, sondern auch in Intervallen gestimmt werden kann. Dadurch ist der Poly-61 flexibler als sein Vorgänger und verfügt über einen unverwechselbaren Klangcharakter.
Rau und Lo-Fi
Der Poly-61 ist ein unglaublich vielseitiges Gerät. Auch ohne tief in Klangexperimente einzutauchen, kann dieses Gerät eine breite Palette an Klängen erzeugen, von denen jeder durch seine eigene, einzigartige Note gekennzeichnet ist. Die sehr schnellen Hüllkurven erzeugen raue analoge Klänge, die von knurrenden Electro-Bässen über markante Blechbläser, stimmungsvolle Leads und üppige Pads bis hin zu rauen Orgelklängen reichen. Der Gesamtklang des Poly-61 ist rau und angenehm Lo-Fi, daher ist es keine Überraschung, dass er unter anderem von Künstlern wie Aphex Twin und Boards of Canada eingesetzt wurde.
The Live version of Poly 61 has been designed to perfectly fit into your Ableton Live. All the included devices can be directly installed in your “Packs” section and previewed when selected in the Live browser. They have also been organized in Live standardized categories so that you can find them also in the browser’s “Categories” section. Moreover, all the sounds included in Poly 61 have similar perceived volumes and feature 4 macro control templates with volume compensation to avoid unwanted distortions.
The Kontakt version of Poly 61 includes PRIMUS, a virtual instrument with an ultra-friendly interface and a solid set of synthesizer parameters. All the sounds included in JD SYNTHS can be easily selected using the Waveform menu and then tweaked using 25 different filters with cutoff and resonance, one multishape LFO assignable to Filter, Volume and Pitch and two envelopes for filter and amplifier. PRIMUS implements also a Glide effect, a Unison with up to 4 stacked voices and a set of built-in effect.
