Preverb VST by Low End Candy

Some of the most powerful moments in modern music production aren’t about what happens at the hit — they’re about what happens just before it. That anticipatory swell, that breath-stealing rise, that cinematic pull into the drop. Low End Candy built Preverb to put exactly that feeling at your fingertips, giving you a dedicated reverse reverb plugin that swells the room into your sound rather than trailing away from it.

Preverb works by capturing the reverb tail of your audio and playing it backwards so it builds into the transient — the classic pre-verb effect that has defined tension and drama across film scores, electronic music, ambient production, and modern pop for decades. Where traditionally achieving this required time-consuming offline rendering, flipping audio, and careful re-alignment, Preverb handles the whole process in real time. You hear it, you shape it, you print it — and you move on.

Key Features

  • Reverse reverb engine: captures and reverses the reverb tail, swelling it in before the hit to create natural cinematic rise effects on any audio source
  • Real-time capture and print: hear the effect live in your session and commit it when it’s right — no offline rendering or manual audio flipping required
  • 6 reverb characters: six distinct spatial personalities to shape the tail — from tight, controlled rooms to expansive, ethereal washes — so the swell suits the track
  • Independent pitch shifting: dial in pitch transposition on the preverb tail independently from the dry signal to create harmonic tension or smooth tonal blending
  • Independent formant shifting: shape the tonal character of the reverb tail without affecting pitch, or link pitch and formant together for natural-sounding transposition
  • Preset library with A/B compare: browse included presets, compare two settings side by side, and initialise the plugin in one click to start fresh
  • VST3 and AU formats: works in every major DAW on Mac and Windows — including Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper, and more
  • Universal Mac build: native support for both Intel and Apple Silicon — no Rosetta translation layer, no performance compromise
  • Single lifetime licence key: one key activates both Mac and Windows — no subscription, no recurring fees, yours forever

How It Works

Drop Preverb onto any channel — vocals, drums, synths, guitars, field recordings — and it gets to work immediately. The engine analyses the reverb character you’ve selected and models what the tail of that space would sound like if it had already played out before the sound hit. The result is a smooth, organic-feeling rise that feels genuinely part of the audio rather than bolted on. Adjust the reverb character to match the vibe of the space you’re working in, then use the pitch and formant controls to tune the tail to the key of your track or push it into something more abstract and textural. When you’re happy, print it and it’s done — locked into your session and ready to mix.

The six reverb characters aren’t simply size presets. Each one imparts a distinct tonal fingerprint onto the tail — from tight and punchy rooms that create a short, sharp inhale to vast, shimmering halls that build slowly and dramatically over several seconds. This range means Preverb works just as effectively on a snare hit needing a quick tension-builder as it does on a vocal phrase that needs a sweeping, three-second cinematic rise into a chorus.

The Vibe — Where Preverb Shines

Preverb is built for producers who work with emotion and drama. If you’re making electronic music, it’s the effortless riser that pulls listeners into your drop without a single automation curve drawn. If you’re scoring to picture, it’s the tension-builder beneath a vocal line that makes a scene feel inevitable. If you’re producing pop or R&B, it’s the silk-smooth vocal swell that transforms a verse into a pre-chorus moment. And if you’re deep in ambient or experimental territory, it’s the spatial transformation that makes a static sound feel like it’s breathing.

Genres and use-cases where Preverb earns its place every session: cinematic and trailer music, electronic and club music drops, hip-hop and trap transitions, ambient and experimental sound design, lo-fi and indie pop vocal production, podcast and broadcast audio sweetening, and game audio and interactive scoring. Wherever a moment needs to build before it lands, Preverb is the tool.

Why Low End Candy?

Low End Candy has built a reputation for tools that prioritise feel and workflow over feature bloat. Preverb is exactly that philosophy made manifest — a focused plugin that does one thing at an exceptionally high level, with enough control to be deeply expressive and enough simplicity to stay out of your creative flow. This is their first release available through Isotonik Studios, and it sets the tone for what to expect from the Low End Candy catalogue: purposeful, musical, and immediately useful.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Yes — Preverb is available in VST3 and AU formats and works in Ableton Live on both Mac and Windows. On Mac, use the AU version for the smoothest Ableton integration, or VST3 if you prefer.

A: Yes. Preverb ships as a Universal build with native Apple Silicon support. There’s no need for Rosetta 2 translation — it runs natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs.

A: Absolutely. One licence key activates Preverb on both platforms — Mac and Windows. No need to purchase separate licences for each machine.

A: Preverb is a lifetime licence — a single one-time purchase with no subscription, no renewal fees, and no time limit. It’s yours to keep.

A: Each of the six reverb characters imparts a distinct tonal and spatial fingerprint on the pre-verb tail. They range from tight, punchy rooms suitable for short transient rises to expansive, shimmering hall textures ideal for long cinematic swells — giving you creative control over how the effect feels, not just how long it lasts.

A: Yes. Pitch and formant can be adjusted independently for creative separation of tonal qualities, or linked together so they move in unison — useful for natural-sounding transposition of the reverb tail to match your track’s key.

A: Yes. Preverb supports VST3 and AU formats, meaning it works in any major DAW that supports those formats — including Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper, Studio One, and more.

A: No — Preverb is a standalone VST3 and AU plugin, not a Max for Live device. It doesn’t require Ableton Live Suite or the Max for Live add-on. It works in any compatible DAW on Mac or Windows.
