Q, How many World Modules can i use?

A, As many as your system will allow, we recommend turning off the preview windows when performing to reduce any CPU issues. As each World Module can be hosted on a separate track in Live you can utilise MultiCore setups to great effect in this way.

Q, Does the World Collection play video?

A, Whilst some of the devices allow you to use your own static images the World Collection was designed to be a low impact set of Audio and MIDI visualisers so at this point no Video isn’t possible. Check out Ebosuite if you want to add that dimension to your performances though!

Q, Can i record my performance to file?

A, We advise either using Screen Capture software like Screenflow or Camtasia, or alternatively utilise the inbuilt Syphon (Mac) / Spout (Windows) functionality to export the video to other software like Resolume.

Description

The Retro Collection, formerly known as the Video Collection, as a pack of MaxforLive Visual devices were Ned’s first forays into the visualiser world. We’ve updated them all to be compatible with our World Viewer which  is included within the pack so that you can use multiples of each device and render to the single World Viewer window!

Made up of three World Modules that can output their visuals to the included World Viewer, Retro Collection is designed to work with both Audio & MIDI.

NEDSCOPE – Originally known as Damage this visualiser creates a scope on a plane that draws itself based on the audio it’s fed. You can set the Hue or have it automate to a number of different triggers such as syncing to the transport or triggering when the audio reaches a defined amplitude.

With a number of drawing modes such as lines & points the plane can be positioned manually and set to constantly rotate or as with the Hue can again be triggered by different events.

GEOSYNTH PRO – Creating Geometric patterns based on a Drumrack input, this is our playable visualiser delivering once again a new dimension to your Ableton Live performance bringing the first of your senses into play!

When updating the MaxforLive device for World Collection compatibility we thought it’s give a good enough reason to revamp the controls and add further features. You can now offset the drawn object from the central axis, in essence giving you the ability to create an orbiting object!

BRAINWASH HD – Our first and the original visualiser, we’d called it something else but after an hour of staring blankly into the screen at the strobing pulsating images it was creating we knew it had to be called Brainwash!

Designed to run as the background layer of the World Viewer it creates its own plane of trips visuals that feedback onto each other.

WORLD VIEWER – Renders each of the individual World Modules to one Viewer window, send this via the Spout or Syphon compatibility or just drag the window to a second monitor or projector and let the audience see your performance come to life!

Our Products are generally provided as Zip file downloads which in all cases will need to be extracted and saved to your hard drive prior to installation. Details on the different file type provided and what to do with them are below.

.alp Files – These are Ableton Live Packs and will install directly into the Packs Section of the browser of Ableton Live. When you double click on them you will see a pop up window asking you to confirm that installation is ok as the files are described as “Legacy”. This is fine and you are ok to proceed, the packs are created using the format for an earlier version of Live and so remain compatible with the current version.

.amxd files – These are individual MaxforLive Devices and can be stored anywhere on your hard drive. We’d advise creating a folder for them and then adding that folder as a location within the Places section of Lives Browser.

Control Surface Scripts – Please refer to the individual User Guides provided with your download, an abridged version of the installation will be shown further down this page.

ClyphX Pro – Please refer directly to the manual and installation video for this specific product.

Novation Circuit Packs – These are provided as individual Sysex Files and as a complete bank file. All are to be installed using a version of the Circuit Editor and not via Novations Components back up utility.
