TX-81Z is a curated multi-sample synth pack based on the vintage Yamaha TX-81Z, the little agressive FM synthesizer, a powerful source of gritty synth leads, raw basses and punchy percussive sounds.
Designed to be a cheap alternative to the DX7, the Yamaha TZ-81Z is an aggressive 4-operator FM machine mainly used for late 80’s and early 90’s dance recordings. The TX-81Z sounds quite different from the DX7: it’s rich in overtones and grittiness and thanks to the greater resolution of the EGs this rackmount synth can generate very punchy and solid sounds. Largely known for the famous Lately Bass preset, the TX-81Z has been used by Fluke, Roni Size, Squarepusher, Future Sound of London, and Josh Wink.

The Live version of TX-81Z has been designed to perfectly fit into your Ableton Live. All the included devices can be directly installed in your “Packs” section and previewed when selected in the Live browser. They have also been organized in Live standardized categories so that you can find them also in the browser’s “Categories” section. Moreover, all the sounds included in TX-81Z have similar perceived volumes and feature 5 macro control templates with volume compensation to avoid unwanted distortions.
The Kontakt version of TX-81Z includes PRIMUS, a virtual instrument with an ultra-friendly interface and a solid set of synthesizer parameters. All the sounds included in TX-81Z can be easily selected using the Waveform menu and then tweaked using 25 different filters with cutoff and resonance, one multishape LFO assignable to Filter, Volume and Pitch and two envelopes for filter and amplifier. PRIMUS implements also a Glide effect, a Unison with up to 4 stacked voices and a set of built-in effect.
