Curves EQ draws inspiration from the iconic hardware designs like Pultec EQP-1A3 with a handful of helpful additions. Following the architecture of the hardware, it captures the sound and utility of working with the hardware. In our experience it’s the easiest EQ to work with as it gets you where you need to be faster than any other EQ we’ve used.
SIGNAL PATH AND PROCESSING
Curves EQ follows the parallel architecture of the renown hardware units. It involves the division of the input signal into separate paths. Each band undergoes separate equalization, the results are coherently summed at the output. Unlike the serial eqs, like EQ8 where the bands are following each other which is one of the biggest reasons for it’s unique character.
WHAT’S DIFFERENT?
Curves EQ bears a handful of useful additions: low-cut filter to help tame low frequencies and unlike the original it’s been inspired by — ability to both boost and cut the mid peak and high shelf. It also supports a wider range of frequency selection than the hardware. And although since it’s digital, we could go with continuous frequency selection, it’s a deliberate choice to employ a selection of carefully tuned frequencies as it’s one of the reasons why it’s so easy to use.
TUBE & IRON
Like its hardware counterparts, it emulates tube/transformer output section as well as inductor based mid band design inviting subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle harmonic content into the original content. Push a hotter signal into the EQ to introduce more harmonics into your signal and compensate with the output gain.
In case if saturation is undesired, circuits can be bypassed for clean sound.
PULTEC TRICK
The Pultec Trick — this simultaneous boost and cut of the low frequency band — can add remarkable depth to a bass guitar or give a kick drum that perfect punch. When applied to a full mix or a bus, it brings forth a richness, making tracks sound fuller and more vibrant.
Curves EQ also allows you to disconnect the low band boost and cut frequencies to provide additional flexibility.
APPLICATION
Having only 4 bands to play around may seem limiting, but it works remarkably well on individual tracks, buses and is a great addition to your mastering toolbox as well.
AUTHENTIC LOOK & FEEL
All our devices follow the established Ableton Live design conventions and blend nicely with the existing selection of tools while employing a unique look. Color scheme adapts to the selected Live color theme naturally. While the design of our devices is functional, it also is easy on the eyes.
PUSH 3 STANDALONE READY
All Monomono devices work on Push 3 in Standalone mode.

This replaced another very popular Pultec inspired EQ plugin for me. Having it as a M4L device is just so convenient.

The sound is very good in all products. But curves v2 (and maybe comp 54) need a eco mode button (only for play not for render) becaused sometimes with mutiple instances i have clicks and pops (i am working with video in a dell workstaton with 32gb ram and uad interface and mutiple hardware interfaces)
Curves 2 complement my spl passeq hardware, hardware is more silk but curves is more easy for “track and freeze”.
