  1. William Jourdain

    The bar is high!

  2. William Stewart

The tool kit was amazing. It’s a definite cure for writer’s block. I would recommend this product. I’ve been using the generators, then applying transformers. Videos giving tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.

MIDI TOOLSET 001 by Manifest Audio

The first 12 MIDI Tools for Ableton Live 12 from Manifest Audio

MIDI Tools are an innovative new category of creative devices available in Live 12. Designed by Ableton Certified Trainer Noah Pred to accelerate workflow, enhance creativity, and access new musical ideas, our inaugural MIDI Toolset includes four MIDI Generators and eight MIDI Transformers.

Harness the power of seven different randomization algorithms to generate compelling new melodies and chords with Metaflux, take polyrhythmic expression to the limit with Metarhythm, intuitively draw complex gestures with Metasketch, and carve new melodic contours with Metapath.

Then take things further and transform your MIDI by imposing unique rhythmic patterning on existing sequences with Euclidifier, adding dramatic variations with Fluctuator or more subtle changes with Inebriator, harness note activation to rapidly generate pattern variations with Mutator, use Octavator for randomized transpositions by octave, use Swinger for randomized per-note shuffle timing, Tether to randomly add note ties, or apply Tilter to adjust chance, velocity, and length on a key-scaled, pitch-relative basis.

All MIDI Tools are scale aware and Info View annotated to seamlessly enhance your creative experience.

PLEASE NOTE: MIDI Tools in general are not yet supported on Push 3 — even Live 12’s included MIDI Tools do not work on it — but as soon as they are supported, we will work to ensure ours are compatible.

BONUS: UTILITY BOOST

Designed by Ableton Certified Trainer Noah Pred, Utility Boost now contains eight workflow enhancement devices:

  • Global Hub to control or randomize Scale, Key, and other crucial parameters for multiple Manifest Audio devices throughout a set simultaneously.
  • Mix Scoper to compare your output signal to a pink noise curve – with or without audible pink noise.
  • Note Scoper to reveal MIDI pitch and velocity data in real-time.
  • Note Trigger to trigger MIDI notes via MIDI CC, automation, or modulation rather than standard note input.
  • Sound Scoper to inspect audio waveform or sonogram with amplitude, and root note frequency in real-time.
  • Time Zone to responsively calculate any rhythmic value in milliseconds, hertz, or, where applicable, MIDI note pitches.
  • Track Notes to easily add text notes to any track, automatically stored with your Live set.
  • X-Relay to dynamically receive, transmit, and control MIDI anywhere in a set in a variety of creative ways.

To install MIDI Tools, first double-click to decompress the ZIP archive it arrived in. !

In Live’s Browser, navigate to the User Library in Places

Then find the MIDI Tools folder located there (2). If you don’t see a folder called MIDI Tools in your User Library, simply create it yourself.

We’d advice adding two subfolders for Generators and Transformers for neatness.

Finally, drag our Generators to the Generators subfolder and our Transformers to the Transformers subfolder

Live should automatically detect them and within the next few minutes, they should appear in the dropdown chooser of Live’s Generators or Transformers in the corresponding tab of any MIDI Clip’s Note Editor.

PLEASE NOTE: Once installed MIDI Tools, since they are not Max MIDI Effects, cannot be dragged and dropped onto MIDI tracks: they can only be loaded by the Generator and Transformer tabs of the MIDI clip editor.

Initial Release – April 2024
