Very useful device, nice work
I love LFOs. I over-use them to drive pretty much every parameter that I can. But even with a stepped LFO modulating a semi-random LFO modulating a sawtooth LFO, sometimes it just doesn’t come together. That’s where MINISTEPS comes in, automating, modulating and straight-up MADulating parameters of any device that I’ve thrown at it so far, in ways that would be super tedious to attempt using non-step-sequenced LFOs.
My army of LFOs still has their uses – the only thing I can think of that would make MINISTEPS earn its 5th star would be if it incorporated those super smooth sinusoid drives and ripples. But who am I kidding; I got this for free!

MiniSteps is designed as a control device for Ableton Live parameters, instruments or effects. All control values are set from three independent sequencers, freely distributed across five output layers and assigned via individual Map buttons. Easily target any parameter within a Live set, then use MiniSteps to add expression, precise control, and degrees of randomness that result in more interesting sounds and dynamic patterns.
Each of the three MiniSteps sequencers is composed of eight number boxes. Once defined, these sources and their behavior can range from absolute precision to total randomness, and everything in between.
These patterns ultimately define the specific group of values that will set the target’s position as the sequence evolves. Furthermore, parameters such as Chance and Jitter add different degrees of randomness, allowing these sequences to behave in a more dynamic and interesting way.
The MiniSteps audio effect is only one of the four elements featured in the Movers Pack.
