Product reviews
Very nice width plugin, Works like charm. Just love it.
Beyond it just being a fantastic multiband stereo width device, the spectral width mode is something I haven't seen in another plugin. A great plugin for mixing and adding width to sounds.
AS Console - Width Module by SABROI
The AS Console Width Module is part of the full AS Console pack of MaxforLive devices from Sabroi – AVAILABLE HERE
Width:
- Multiband Stereo Effect: creates stereo information via a series of complex routed delays rather than altering the actual audio signal
- Delay Length Control: fine tuning of each individual delay length for each corresponding band to vary the spatialization
- Optimized Transients Masking: delay lengths are optimized to each band to ensure perceivable transients get masked
Frequently Asked Questions
It is a Max for Live device that creates multiband stereo width by using a series of complex routed delays rather than manipulating the audio signal directly. It is a standalone taster of the full AS Console pack by Sabroi, giving you a taste of the console-inspired workflow before committing to the complete suite.
The device generates stereo information through carefully routed delays across multiple frequency bands, meaning the core audio signal itself remains intact. This approach produces a natural-feeling width that avoids the phase issues common with traditional stereo widening techniques.
It allows you to fine-tune the delay length for each individual frequency band independently, giving you precise control over how the spatialization behaves across the frequency spectrum. This means you can push or pull the width at specific bands to suit the material you are working with.
The delay lengths across each band are calibrated so that perceivable transients are masked rather than smeared or exaggerated by the widening process. This keeps the width effect sounding controlled and musical rather than washy or phasey on percussive elements.
You will need a copy of Ableton Live with Max for Live included, which means Live Suite or a separate Max for Live licence added to Live Standard. Always check you are running a compatible version of both Ableton Live and Max for Live before installing.
Once downloaded, drag the device file into your Ableton Live User Library or directly onto an audio track in your session. It will appear in your Max for Live devices and is ready to use straight away without any additional setup.
It works well on any source where you want to add controlled stereo width without introducing unwanted coloration, such as synths, pads, bus channels, or even a full mix bus. The multiband nature makes it particularly useful when you need width that behaves differently across lows, mids, and highs.
