Our Products are generally provided as Zip file downloads which in all cases will need to be extracted and saved to your hard drive prior to installation. Details on the different file type provided and what to do with them are below.
.alp Files – These are Ableton Live Packs and will install directly into the Packs Section of the browser of Ableton Live. When you double click on them you will see a pop up window asking you to confirm that installation is ok as the files are described as “Legacy”. This is fine and you are ok to proceed, the packs are created using the format for an earlier version of Live and so remain compatible with the current version.
.amxd files – These are individual MaxforLive Devices and can be stored anywhere on your hard drive. We’d advise creating a folder for them and then adding that folder as a location within the Places section of Lives Browser.
Control Surface Scripts – Please refer to the individual User Guides provided with your download, an abridged version of the installation will be shown further down this page.
ClyphX Pro – Please refer directly to the manual and installation video for this specific product.
Novation Circuit Packs – These are provided as individual Sysex Files and as a complete bank file. All are to be installed using a version of the Circuit Editor and not via Novations Components back up utility.
This pack is by way of introduction to the Fake Acoustic Drums Ableton Live Pack from Chaos Culture, with 64 Samples in both WAV form and as a self installing Ableton Live Pack it’ll give you a great taster of the full pack described below.
Fake Acoustic Drums is a sample pack that consists of 512 unique one-shot drum samples, which are designed to imitate acoustic drums. Although synthesizers were purposefully used in the creation of these sounds, the point is that the resulting samples should not sound like a typical drum machine. No kick drums that consists only of a sine wave with a click, instead those sounds make use of a lot of noise and texture layers to mask the fact that they are synthesized.
But at the same time, these sounds are specifically not actual recordings of real drums. It’s a limitation that gives these sounds something uncanny and unique. Despite the fact that a lot of processing has been applied in order to achieve these results, they are not overly compressed or distorted. They are versatile and can easily be modified to fit into various mixes and music genres.
This sample pack has no filler content, no loops of the already provided one-shot samples, no duplicate sounds with added reverb or something similar. It’s a collection of 512 unique sounds, each rendered in 24 bit and a samplerate of 44100.
The download includes a .zip file with every sample in .wav format. These .wav files can be used in practically any DAW. Additionally, you can download these samples as an Ableton Live Pack, which then makes sure these samples are integrated better into Live. The Live Pack also features 8 Drum Racks Presets, each having every single sample already loaded. You can change the sample selection using the macros, making it easy to start jamming out without any manual work. Inserting these Drum Racks from Push or other MIDI controllers works in the same way as inserting any other stock Drum Rack in Live.
