INSTALLATION

Our Products are generally provided as Zip file downloads which in all cases will need to be extracted and saved to your hard drive prior to installation. Details on the different file type provided and what to do with them are below.

.alp Files: These are Ableton Live Packs and will either install directly into the Packs Section of the browser of Ableton Live or ask you to save them to your hard drive. For packs that install to the library, when you double click on them you will see a pop up window asking you to confirm that installation is ok as the files are described as “Legacy”. This is fine and you are ok to proceed, the packs are created using the format for an earlier version of Live and so remain compatible with the current version.

.amxd files: These are individual MaxforLive Devices and can be stored anywhere on your hard drive. We’d advise creating a folder for them and then adding that folder as a location within the Places section of Lives Browser.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Granular and Ambient Elektron Tonverk Sound Pack?

It is a dedicated sound pack for the Elektron Tonverk synthesiser, containing multisamples for the Multisampler engine and source samples for the Granular engine, all built around granular and ambient textures.

Which Elektron device does this pack work with?

This pack is designed specifically for the Elektron Tonverk. It is not compatible with other Elektron devices.

How do I install the pack?

Copy the Granular and Ambient Sound Pack folder to your SD Card in the User folder. Multisamples will appear automatically at the bottom of the Multisampler browser list. Granular source samples are located in the Granular Source folder and can be selected from the Granular engine browser.

The pack focuses on granular and ambient textures, designed for slow-moving, evolving and immersive sound design on the Tonverk.

In Depth

**Evolving multisampled instruments and purpose-built granular sources for ambient, electronica and experimental sound design on Elektron Tonverk.**

**Granular + Ambient** contains **64 multisampled instruments (16 Basses, 24 Pads, 16 Polyphonic instruments and 8 Arpeggios) built from 380+ carefully selected samples**, together with **99 dedicated Granular Sources specifically created for Tonverk’s granular engine**.

The pack is built around two complementary approaches to sound design: **rich, playable multisampled instruments and purpose-built material for granular synthesis**. The 64 multisampled instruments provide a broad collection of musical and atmospheric sounds, while the 99 Granular Sources are designed to give Tonverk’s granular engine the detailed, varied material it needs to produce deep, evolving textures.

99 Granular Sources

The granular material is a central part of the pack. **These are not simply conventional samples intended to be processed afterwards. Each source has been specifically created with granular synthesis in mind**, combining internal tonal movement, evolving timbres, transients, harmonic variation, tonal shifts and contrasting textures.

This gives the granular engine plenty of interesting material to work with. A single source can be transformed into **long, evolving ambient passages, atmospheric soundscapes and complex textures**, with enough internal variation to remain interesting over time rather than becoming static or repetitive.

The sources can range from subtle, slowly moving atmospheres to dense, ethereal and highly animated granular textures. They are particularly effective for creating **long-form ambient sounds and evolving soundscapes from a single sample**, making them ideal for exploring Tonverk’s granular synthesis capabilities.

64 Multisampled Instruments

The multisample collection contains:

– **16 Basses**
– **24 Pads**
– **16 Polyphonic instruments**
– **8 Arpeggios**
– **380+ carefully selected samples**

The sounds cover a wide range of atmospheric and musical territory. The pads feature plenty of movement and evolving character, the polyphonic instruments provide rich and beautiful harmonic sounds, the basses range from deep and warm to more animated and electronic, while the arpeggios add melodic movement and rhythmic detail.

Every multisampled instrument is fully optimized across the keyboard range, providing detailed, high-quality playback while keeping memory usage remarkably low. Carefully selected notes provide a smooth and natural response while retaining the detail and character of each sound. Carefully prepared loop points allow sustained sounds and evolving pads to play smoothly and seamlessly.

Together, the multisamples and granular sources provide a versatile palette for **ambient, electronica, IDM and contemporary experimental music**. Use the multisampled instruments as rich playable foundations, or take the dedicated granular sources and transform a single sound into **long-form evolving textures, atmospheric passages and complex soundscapes**.

**Granular + Ambient is designed to give Tonverk both a versatile collection of playable instruments and the kind of carefully prepared source material that allows its granular engine to truly shine.**
