Total Clip & Scene Automation Without a Computer

Ableton have finally delivered one of the most requested features for Push 3 Standalone users—Follow Actions. With this update, you can now automate both clips and scenes directly from the hardware, no laptop needed. This is a game-changer for hands-free performance, creative automation, and generative compositions.

How to Enable Follow Actions on Push 3

Clip Follow Actions

  • Single Clip: Hold Play, tap the clip
  • Entire Track: Hold Track + Play

Scene Follow Actions

  • Single Scene: Hold Play, tap the scene
  • All Scenes: Hold Play + Master

No menus, no mouse—it’s instant and intuitive.

Editing Follow Actions on Push 3

Head into Clip View, then:

  • Tap the clip name to access Follow Actions
  • Choose Linked or Unlinked timing
  • Adjust Loop Count or specific time values
  • Set Action A & B (Next, Previous, First, Jump, etc.)
  • Fine-tune Chance/Probability settings

You get full control over clip or scene behavior—whether it’s creating loop cycles, randomized jumps, or seamless transitions.

Scene-Level Follow Actions

With scenes, you now get:

  • Tempo & Time Signature changes per scene
  • The same Follow Action types as clips
  • Linked timing that waits for the longest clip—or unlinked for fixed timing

Perfect for structuring full tracks, jam sessions, or generative performances right from Push.

Why It Matters

  • Free up your hands for live FX tweakslooping, or performance gestures
  • Build fully autonomous sets with dynamic scene and clip movement
  • No need for workarounds or transferring to Live—do it all on Push

This finally unlocks the full performance potential of Push 3 Standalone.
